RISE - Recovery and Integration Service - is the main referral for adults (18+) in Devon (excluding Plymouth and Torbay) looking for help with drug and alcohol issues. Services include:
- assessment
- brief Intervention
- structured intervention
- community alcohol and opiate detox
- access to inpatient detox and residential rehabilitation
- relapse prevention
- needle exchange
- family interventions (BtC)
- lifeskills
- criminal justice work
Together Drug and Alcohol Service offers support to those over 18 who wish to address their drug and alcohol use. It offers:
- Advice & information for drug and/or alcohol users or anyone concerned about someone’s use (friends, family, employers)
- Prescribing options, delivered by Devon Doctors
- Harm reduction interventions and Needle exchange
- Group work programmes
- One to one recovery navigation
- Whole Family support and interventions
- Recovery support and post treatment programmes and activities
- Accredited mentoring courses
We have four hubs (Barnstaple, Bideford, Exeter and Newton Abbot), and a number of satellite services, across the county where you can get support.

The Service provides Open Access sessions and Appointments, offering assessment, advice, information, treatment, support and onward referral to other adult drug services if indicated. It has four in-house prescribers (2 GPs and 2 Non Medical Prescribers), offering substitute opioid prescribing (rapid prescribing service available). Treatment is also available for all illicit drugs, legal highs, dependency on prescribed medication and relapse prevention support. There is wide provision of group work and care planned one-to-one psychosocial interventions to drug dependent adults aged 18+ with low to moderate needs. The service also offers Blood Borne Virus (BBV) testing and immunisation.
