Coronavirus update 30 March 2020

Please read the most up-to-date information on Covid-19 (Coronavirus) from the NHS
APPOINTMENTS
We are now in the delay phase of our response to COVID-19. Due to the current situation, the directive for GP surgeries is to triage all patients with a telephone consultation in the first instance. Should the GP feel it is necessary to see you face-to-face, they will arrange the appointment themselves. We have also suspended all online pre-bookable appointments until further notice. If you have a non urgent medical query, please use our eConsult service on our website.

PRESCRIPTIONS
As of Monday 30th March 2020, the surgery will not be accepting any paper prescriptions in the short term due to Covid-19, We ask that all patients register for Systmonline to order your prescription. Please contact the surgery for our team to organise this for you. If you do not have internet access, please contact us and we will try to assist you with your prescription request.

Thank you for your cooperation at this difficult time.

  • Repeat Prescriptions

If you would like to order your repeat prescription online, you must be registered for Systmonline. Please click here to request access to our online services.

Repeat prescriptions can be re-ordered in a number of ways:

    • ONLINE - The easiest way for you to request a repeat prescription is to register with 'Systmonline'  This enables you to order repeat prescriptions , as well as book or cancel appointments yourself.
    • In person - hand your repeat slip in at reception or post it in the prescription box in the entrance at the surgery. You can also fill in a repeat prescription request form at the front desk.
    • By post – send the repeat prescription request to us, with a stamped addressed envelope and we'll happily send it back to you.

Please allow two working days for repeat prescription requests to be processed.

If you are on a regular medication your doctor may mark this item as a ‘repeat prescription.’ This means that you can obtain a further prescription without having to see a doctor.

Please be aware that if you are requesting your medication too early or if the doctor thinks that you need a review, we will not be able to issue a prescription.

If you require your prescription early due to a holiday for example, please provide a reason with your early request.

  • Prescription charges and exceptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

    NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

    • Prescription (per item): £9.00
    • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
    • 3-month PPC: £29.10

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website

  • Prescription prepayment certificates

If you need more than 13 prescribed medicines in a year, you will save money with this.

    A single prescription is £9:00, a 3 month prepayment is £29.10 and a 12 month prepayment is £104.

Click on Prescription Prepayment Application and follow the application process at the bottom of the page.
